Sad news!

Hello my friends,

As I look back on my past 10 years I realize how blessed I have been to be a part of all your children's lives.   They have given me so much!

In December I will be closing my Kindermusik business to move with my family to Birmingham.  It makes me extremely sad.  However, the blessing is that back in September my husband lost his job unexpectedly but pretty quickly was offered a great job in Birmingham.  We are so thankful to God for this.

We will continue and finish our classes through this semester and all classes will end by December 1st.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  We will have classes the week of Thanksgiving.

I have alerted Sarah Hall downtown at First Baptist that I am sure many of you would like to continue the Kindermusik journey.  She is ready to help and accommodate you.  Her number is 271-3264.

Steady Beat, Foundations of Learning

Many children ages 1 1/2 through 3 years have a well-developed sense of their own internal steady beat.  Once this internal steady beat is secured, children are then ready for experiences in which they are invited to match the steady beat of an external sound source.

Things your child learns in Kindermusik

Do you know that your child is not only learning many musical concepts in Kindermusik class but also important life skills?    Here are a few:  sharing, how to be a friend, taking turns, social interaction in a large group, language skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, brainstorming and more! 

After 3 weeks of Kindermusik, can you think of more????

Week 3 - Let's talk about Brain Development!

At birth, children's hearing, vision, and motor skills are not fully developed.  A child's brain will develop neural pathways that will allow him to use the information coming in through his senses to comprehend his ever-expanding environment.  "Vision and hearing are the senses that help a child understand his separateness from the people and the world around him.  They serve as the motivators in his exploration of his body and of the world."  Combining visual, tactile, and auditory elements in activities such as Zoom-e-oh, Round and Round the Village and Slide Down strengthens these developing neural pathways (Moss).

2nd week of the Fall semester!

What a great beginning to our Fall semester.  I am loving all the new faces and old friends in every class.

Don't forget to hand in your information sheet this week.  If you can't print the attachment from your email don't worry, I have extras in class.
